Storyboard Draft

The song we have chosen to do is 'My Kind of Love' by Emelie Sandé. After watching the music video for her version we look at how we could make it different with a similar meaning to the song. We have gone for relatively short clips for each section of the song. This is so we can collect a number of shots portraying different emotions and seeing which one would work best for the song.

For the storyboard, I have used the timescale of the song to find out where all of the cuts and change of scenes need to be.

Shot 0:00-0:20

This shot is a close up of our singer. I thought that this would work because the first 20 seconds of the song is almost spoken but with a harmony. I think that this would work in front of a black background with a few lights on her, this is so it isn't a harsh tone and is quite soft to start off the video.

Shot 0:20-0:23

This is only a 3 second shot but I think that a quick shot of piano keys would make the video look quite good.

Shot 0:23-0:43

We were thinking of using Farnham Castle as half of our location plan. The grounds are quite big, and it would look really effective if there was more background behind when singing. If we shot somewhen during the day or in the early evening it would look quite beautiful, relating to the message linked to the song.

Shot 0:43-1:02

Another location we were looking at using is Gostrey Meadows. As it is quite a big place, it also has a river, bridge, few trees and a children's park. We could potentially incorporate all of these into this music video.

Shot 1:02-1:25

This is the shot thats in the second half of the chorus. I think it would be effective if we had a shot of the singer stood on the bridge with the river going underneath. This would also look pretty good if it was raining, as it is a fairly meaningful song and we want it to carryon like that.

Shot 1:25-1:39

Again if the shot after the chorus was in Gostrey Meadows, we could use the swings in the children's park, just to show that there is some uplift to the song and it is all depressing.

Shot 1:39-2:09

Another close up of the singer would be effective here because it is the first bit of the second chorus and I think it would look meaningful.

Shot 2:09-2:18

The story board show the singer walking away from a heart in this shot. It doesn't necessarily have to be a heart, but something to represent Love. It could even be a person she's walking away from.

Shot 2:18-2:31

I thought that a fade in effect would look good here. Its basically a two shot but shot with different people in 2 different locations. The left hand side of the shot would be the 'blurred, faded' effect and the other half i think would look emphasised if the colour was sort of 'muddy.'

Shot 2:31-2:53

This shot is too be of our singer singing into a recording microphone in a 'studio' area. Or we could take it and shot at one of our other locations. We want this shot to be a one off and it will last about 20 seconds. I think if we shot this at different angles it would look really effective.

Shot 2:53-3:07

This will be the last shot of our singer. A close up on her face to fill the frame speaking (with a harmony) to the last part of the song.

Shot 3:07-3:19

This is the last part of the song. I thought having the words 'My Kind Of Love' written on a window in steamed up writing or in wipe board pen to give it the ending effect. I though it would be appropriate as this is the title to the song.
