The second part of the research was to look at CD covers and to see how we could use the different angles and colour schemes for when it comes to promoting our music video. In a way, I think that the album photo needs to have some sort of link to the main video.

There is no eye contact and she is looking down, making the effect quite mysterious.
I think this cover contrasts
really well with the music which is included on the CD. The music that she
tends to do is quite meaningful and emotional.

The lighting which has been
used is soft, but light enough to produce a clear complexion, with the cover going
darker where the name of the album is.
The angles in which she has
been positioned are quite striking and bold making it stand out a bit more.
The name of the album cover
is in block, white writing spread across the top. It is white so that it stands
out from the background which is quite dark.
Most of the group are using
eye contact to draw people to it. There is an exception of one, maybe two that
aren’t using eye contact and looking elsewhere. It depends how different people
interpret it.
Nearly the whole of the
design is dark. The lighting is fairly light because you see the background
detail and the musicians are quite well lit.
It is another fairly basic
design with the band at the front, sort of laid out like a triangle going
towards the back.

The title of the band is
included on the design but not the name of the album, expressing it’s a self
named album. The text is in a peachy colour on a black border making it stand
out.
There is quite a lot of
lighting in this. Some coming from the vehicles in the background. It looks as
though there might be some fairly harsh lighting from the front of them because
it has made them look fairly pale.
There is a 3 sided black
border on the top, bottom and right hand sides. This contains a photograph of a
street at night with the musicians standing in the middle of the road.
